{"id":1111311,"date":"2015-05-04T13:06:48","date_gmt":"2015-05-04T13:06:48","guid":{"rendered":""},"modified":"-0001-11-30T00:00:00","modified_gmt":"-0001-11-30T00:00:00","slug":"kwn-members-get-informed-about-economic-empowerment-opportunities","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/womensnetwork.org\/sr\/kwn-members-get-informed-about-economic-empowerment-opportunities\/","title":{"rendered":"KWN Members get informed about Economic Empowerment Opportunities"},"content":{"rendered":"<div style=\"margin-bottom: 0.0001pt;\">Women&rsquo;s economic empowerment was a key theme of the Kosova Women&rsquo;s Network&rsquo;s (KWN) bimonthly members&rsquo; meeting held on April 7. &nbsp;Several special guests from Kosovo institutions and international agencies joined the meeting, sharing information about their programs, towards women&rsquo;s economic empowerment in Kosovo. KWN sought to inform members regarding the several opportunities available, so that they could share this information with their communities.<\/div>\n<div style=\"margin-bottom: 0.0001pt;\">Guests who shared information regarding opportunities for women&rsquo;s economic empowerment included: Xhemajl Syla <a href=\"http:\/\/www.invest-ks.org\/\">from the Ministry of Trade and Industry<\/a>, that aims empowering women in entrepreneurship, Nystrete Doda Gashi, representing the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.mbpzhr-ks.net\/\">Ministry of Agriculture, Forestry<\/a><u> and Rural Development<\/u>, the program for Rural Development and Agriculture that aims raising competitiveness in agriculture and replacing import; creating more jobs; getting closer to EU rules, regulations, standards and policies; protecting environment (by creating garbage spaces and producing renewable energy). Skender Rama <a href=\"http:\/\/empowerkosovo.org\/al\/punoni-me-ne\/grante\/\"><span style=\"RRGK Book&quot;;\ncolor:#660066\">USAID<\/span><\/a><span style=\"RRGK Book&quot;;\ncolor:#660066\">s<\/span> Empower Private Sector project, that aims increasing competitiveness in growth-ready sectors and facilitate inclusive job creation, while also developing the capacity of local service providers to support the Kosovo private sector. Alida Muhaxhiri from Promoting Private Sector Employment, <a href=\"http:\/\/ppse-kosovo.org\/\">Swisscontact<\/a> that mains objectives include, SMEs of the selected sectors increase their productivity and generate additional income and employment; Better organized and empowered SMEs actively influence sector policies and the respective business environment; Barriers for women to access gainful employment are reduced and their decision making power has increased in the sectors in which PPSE operates and <a href=\"http:\/\/www.ks.undp.org\/content\/kosovo\/en\/home\/operations\/projects\/poverty_reduction\/ALMP.html\">Ada Shima from UNDP Active Labor Market program<\/a>that main objectives includes self-employment and other programs targeting women.<\/div>\n<div style=\"margin-bottom: 0.0001pt;\">&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; Afterwards, Igballe Rogova, KWN Executive Director, shared information about the new KWN office, now located at <a href=\"https:\/\/www.google.com\/maps\/place\/Hajrullah+Abdullahu,+Prishtin%C3%AB\/@42.6556602,21.1685274,17.3z\/data=!4m2!3m1!1s0x13549edccecf2c3d:0xb3f3c25693eddcc7\"><span style=\"RRGK Book&quot;;MS Mincho&quot;;color:#660066;\nletter-spacing:-.1pt\">Hajrullah Abdullahu St., no. 25 in Sunny Hill.<\/span><\/a><\/div>\n<div style=\"margin-bottom: 0.0001pt;\">&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; Then Nicole Farnsworth, KWN Program Manager, informed participants that KWN is assisting and mentoring different budget organizations on how to implement Gender Responsive Budgeting (GRB). She mentioned KWN&rsquo;s prior work in the Ministry of Labor and Social Welfare (MLSW) and the Municipality of Kamenica. This year, KWN <a href=\"https:\/\/womensnetwork.org\/?FaqeID=1&amp;n=289\"><span style=\"RRGK Book&quot;;MS Mincho&quot;;color:#660066\">has begun cooperation with the Ministry of Education, Science and Technology (MEST)<\/span><\/a> and the Municipality of Gjakova.<\/div>\n<div style=\"margin-bottom: 0.0001pt;\">&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp;&nbsp; Ms. Farnsworth, also informed participants regarding progress on research on Domestic Violence and Sexual Harassment, supported by the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.kryeministri-ks.net\/?page=2,110\"><span style=\"RRGK Book&quot;;\ncolor:#660066\">Agency for Gender Equality (AGE)<\/span><\/a> and financed by the <a href=\"http:\/\/www.entwicklung.at\/en\/\">Austrian Development Agency (ADA).<\/a>This important research will seek to inform the new Strategy and National Action Plan (NAP) against Domestic Violence, which is planned to be drafted in 2015.&nbsp;<\/div>\n<div style=\"margin-bottom: 0.0001pt;\">Members also shared information regarding their organizations and activities.
