{"id":3340124,"date":"2019-05-01T12:01:39","date_gmt":"2019-05-01T12:01:39","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/womensnetwork.org\/?p=3340124"},"modified":"2019-06-05T08:36:35","modified_gmt":"2019-06-05T08:36:35","slug":"kwn-marks-1-may-protesting-seeks-employment-without-discrimination","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/womensnetwork.org\/sr\/kwn-marks-1-may-protesting-seeks-employment-without-discrimination\/","title":{"rendered":"KWN Marks 1 May by Protesting, Seeks Employment without Discrimination"},"content":{"rendered":"<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Kosovo Women\u2019s Network (KWN) joined the 1<sup>st<\/sup> of May protest on International Worker\u2019s Day, seeking equal opportunities for employment with a salary that ensures dignified life, health insurance, security at work, and employment without discrimination for all regardless of ethnicity, age, sexual orientation or gender identity.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">The protest began at 12 PM in the amphitheatre of \u201cZahir Pajaziti\u201d square in the capital city, to continue parading in front of the institutions that are responsible for respecting worker\u2019s right and improving the working conditions in Kosovo, especially in the private sector. Thus, the protesters marched to the Ministry of Labour and Social Welfare (MLSW), the Police, the Union of Independent Trade Unions of Kosovo, Labour Inspectorate, to return again at the meeting point at the square.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\"><em>\u201cFor free and equal society\u201d, \u201cWith or without hijab I do the work\u201d, \u201cMy clothing, my body\u201d, \u201cWe work, they profit\u201d, \u201c1<sup>st<\/sup> May is not for celebration, it is for protesting \u201d, \u201cEmployment without discrimination\u201d,<\/em> were just some of the slogans that the protesters held in their hands.<\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">As revealed by the research report <a href=\"https:\/\/womensnetwork.org\/kwn-launches-report-gender-based-discrimination-and-labour-in-kosovo\/\">\u201cGender-based discrimination and Labour in Kosovo\u201d<\/a> launched this April by KWN in close cooperation with the European Union (EU), the Agency for Gender Equality and Ombudsperson Institution, women workers are more discriminated against, compared to men workers.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/womensnetwork.org\/1-maj-proteston-rrgk-2\/\"><img fetchpriority=\"high\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"alignnone size-medium wp-image-3340084\" src=\"https:\/\/womensnetwork.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/05\/1-maj-proteston-RrGK-300x225.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"300\" height=\"225\" srcset=\"https:\/\/womensnetwork.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/05\/1-maj-proteston-RrGK-300x225.jpg 300w, https:\/\/womensnetwork.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/05\/1-maj-proteston-RrGK-768x576.jpg 768w, https:\/\/womensnetwork.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/05\/1-maj-proteston-RrGK-1024x768.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/womensnetwork.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/05\/1-maj-proteston-RrGK-265x200.jpg 265w, https:\/\/womensnetwork.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2019\/05\/1-maj-proteston-RrGK.jpg 1280w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 300px) 100vw, 300px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">Project Coordinator at KWN, Adelina T\u00ebrshani, also one of the organizers of this protest, while unveiling the progress of this action, has further revealed why it is necessary for the Kosovar society to continue seeking more rights for the working class, as well as seeking respect for those existing rights.<\/p>\n<blockquote>\n<p style=\"text-align: justify;\">\u201cWomen workers in Kosovo are being paid less than men, they are being harassed in the workplace, their right to maternity leave and work contract is violated, they are being discriminated against just because they are women.
