{"id":3340964,"date":"2019-07-05T08:36:31","date_gmt":"2019-07-05T08:36:31","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/womensnetwork.org\/?p=3340964"},"modified":"2019-08-28T11:50:03","modified_gmt":"2019-08-28T11:50:03","slug":"opdmk-aims-to-strengthen-the-participation-of-women-with-disabilities-in-politics","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/womensnetwork.org\/sr\/opdmk-aims-to-strengthen-the-participation-of-women-with-disabilities-in-politics\/","title":{"rendered":"OPDMK aims to Strengthen the Participation of Women with Disabilities in Politics"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The Organization of Persons with Muscular Dystrophy of Kosovo (OPDMK) on July 5, held its third informative session, within the \u201cStrengthening Women\u2019s Participation in Politics\u201d initiative at the Informative Center of the European Union \u201cEurope House\u201d in Prishtina.<\/p>\n<p>This session was attended by more than 20 participants from Handikos, the Association for the Blind, Women\u2019s Group from the Association for the Deaf, as well as women with disabilities from the Prishtina region.<\/p>\n<p>OPDMK is part of a four-year initiative implemented by the Kosovo Women\u2019s Network (KWN) along with Ruka Ruci organization and the European Women Lawyers Association (EWLA). It is supported by the European Union (EU) Office in Kosovo.<\/p>\n<p>Antigona \u0160estan, Director of OPDMK, briefed the attendees on this initiative, while acknowledging the contribution of the KWN in strengthening her organization and helping achieve its goals<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>\u201cThis initiative aims to contribute to the overall objective of strengthening civic engagement, gender equality and inclusive democracy through participation of women in politics and decision-making process in Kosovo in various ways. OPDMK made great strides thanks to KWN\u2019s fund, and in this way we have worked on advancing the position of women with disabilities,\u201d \u0160estan said.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/womensnetwork.org\/opdmk-aims-to-strengthen-the-participation-of-women-with-disabilities-in-politics\/foto-4-3-2\/\" rel=\"attachment wp-att-3340938\"><img fetchpriority=\"high\" about the activities of this initiative as well as the expected results from its implementation.<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>\u201cThe initiative will officially end after a four-year period, but our common purpose is that its impact does not end there\u201d, Zatriqi said. \u201cThe work and activities to empower women\u2019s participation in politics will leave marks even after the end of this initiative supported by the EU Office in Kosovo\u201d.<\/p>\n<p><a \/><\/a><\/p><\/blockquote>\n<p>Further, Zatriqi through an interactive discussion with the attendees briefed them about the initiatives of Lobby for Gender Equality (Lobby) and Coalition for Equality (CfE).<\/p>\n<p>Resmije Rrahmani, OPDMK, addressed her experience of cooperation with KWN.<\/p>\n<blockquote><p>\u201cKWN has always accepted us, me as an individual, and also us as an organization\u201d, she said.<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"https:\/\/womensnetwork.org\/opdmk-aims-to-strengthen-the-participation-of-women-with-disabilities-in-politics\/foto-6-3\/\" rel=\"attachment
