{"id":3347907,"date":"2020-11-09T14:06:03","date_gmt":"2020-11-09T14:06:03","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/womensnetwork.org\/?p=3347907"},"modified":"2020-11-09T14:11:35","modified_gmt":"2020-11-09T14:11:35","slug":"aefc-holds-trainings-on-istanbul-convention","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/womensnetwork.org\/sr\/aefc-holds-trainings-on-istanbul-convention\/","title":{"rendered":"AEFC Holds Trainings on Istanbul Convention"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>Association for Education and Family Care (AEFC) in the framework\nof the project \u201cIstanbul Convention and National Strategy Against Domestic\nViolence\u201d held 4 trainings for capacity building of NGOs, gender equality\nofficers and assembly members on victim protection and prevention in accordance\nwith the Istanbul Convention in the municipalities of Gjakova, Junik and\nRahovec.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img fetchpriority=\"high\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"1024\" height=\"683\" src=\"https:\/\/womensnetwork.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/11\/IMG_0507-1024x683.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-3347903\" srcset=\"https:\/\/womensnetwork.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/11\/IMG_0507-1024x683.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/womensnetwork.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/11\/IMG_0507-300x200.jpg 300w, https:\/\/womensnetwork.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/11\/IMG_0507-768x512.jpg 768w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>Bahrije\u202fVehapi, Project Coordinator, first outlined\u202fthe importance\nof this initiative, which aims to develop and build the capacity of women\u2019s\norganizations in the three aforementioned municipalities.\u202f\u202f <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cMany women\u2019s organizations from this area are unaware of the\nimportance of this Convention in raising the responsibility of institutions to\naddress domestic violence with elements of gender-based violence, including\nsexual violence, which failed to be integrated with the previous national\nstrategy,\u201d Vehapi\u202fsaid\u202fat the beginning of the training.\u202f\u202f<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Beneficiary organizations of this project were: KVRL (Local Youth\nAction Council (Gjakova), Qershiza (Junik), Farmer Woman (Rahovec), Sustainable\nDevelopment Goal 5 , Institute for Gender Equality (Gjakova), and NGO\nProsperity (RAE Gjakova).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img decoding=\"async\" width=\"1024\" height=\"683\" src=\"https:\/\/womensnetwork.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/11\/IMG_2638-1024x683.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-3347897\" srcset=\"https:\/\/womensnetwork.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/11\/IMG_2638-1024x683.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/womensnetwork.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/11\/IMG_2638-300x200.jpg 300w, https:\/\/womensnetwork.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/11\/IMG_2638-768x512.jpg 768w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 1024px) 100vw, 1024px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>On March 11, AEFC held a roundtable with these 6 organizations to\ndiscuss the findings and recommendations collected during the implementation of\nthe Istanbul Convention and National Strategy Against Domestic Violence\ninitiative. Present at the roundtable were members of AEFC, representatives of\nwomen\u2019s organizations, as well as stakeholders and officials of Gjakova\nMunicipality. The need to raise awareness about and the lack of knowledge\nsurrounding the Istanbul Convention was discussed during the meeting, as well\nas the legal and practical interpretation of this convention in the direct work\nof NGOs that deal with victims of gender-based violence in Gjakova, Junik and\nRahovec.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Arbnore Shehu, lawyer, presented all the recommendations gathered\nduring the workshops.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>These recommendations are:&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\"><li>Information\n     sessions for citizens regarding Istanbul Convention.&nbsp;<\/li><li>Create\n     programs for NGOs to deal with the rehabilitation of abusers.&nbsp;<\/li><li>Allocate\n     the budget for the implementation of the Istanbul Convention.&nbsp;<\/li><li>Provide\n     training for professionals and provide social housing for victims.&nbsp;<\/li><li>Anticipate\n     the action plan and strategy including the Istanbul Convention.&nbsp;<\/li><li>Prepare\n     a joint project for the training of police officers on the Prevention of\n     Secondary Victims.&nbsp;<\/li><li>Harmonize\n     the law on domestic violence with the Istanbul Convention.&nbsp;<\/li><li>Members\n     of the&nbsp;<em>Coordination mechanism against domestic\n     violence&nbsp;<\/em>mechanism to be involved in a broader joint\n     training and action plan activities to be integrated with the Istanbul\n     Convention.&nbsp;<\/li><li>Have\n     a better focus on prevention and instead of the recovery; to hold family\n     planning sessions so that there are no further consequences for children\n     as cases of domestic violence.&nbsp;<\/li><li>Establish\n     counseling centers for child victims and couples counseling in every\n     family medicine center.&nbsp;<\/li><\/ul>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img decoding=\"async\" width=\"864\" height=\"682\" src=\"https:\/\/womensnetwork.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/11\/Slide2.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-3347908\" srcset=\"https:\/\/womensnetwork.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/11\/Slide2.jpg 864w, https:\/\/womensnetwork.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/11\/Slide2-300x237.jpg 300w, https:\/\/womensnetwork.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/11\/Slide2-768x606.jpg 768w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 864px) 100vw, 864px\" \/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>This initiative is supported by\nthe Kosovo Women\u2019s Fund (KWF) and funded by ADA Austrian Development\nCooperation in Kosovo.&nbsp;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Association for Education and Family Care (AEFC) in the framework of the project \u201cIstanbul Convention and National Strategy Against Domestic Violence\u201d held 4 trainings for capacity building of NGOs, gender equality officers and assembly members on victim protection and prevention in accordance with the Istanbul Convention in the municipalities of Gjakova, Junik and Rahovec.
