{"id":3348501,"date":"2020-12-16T09:53:45","date_gmt":"2020-12-16T09:53:45","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/womensnetwork.org\/?p=3348501"},"modified":"2020-12-16T09:53:55","modified_gmt":"2020-12-16T09:53:55","slug":"mk-and-db-held-meetings-with-women-assembly-members-and-survivors-of-the-war","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/womensnetwork.org\/sr\/mk-and-db-held-meetings-with-women-assembly-members-and-survivors-of-the-war\/","title":{"rendered":"MK and DB held meetings with women assembly members and survivors of the war"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>Medica Kosova and Djepi\ni&nbsp;Buz\u00ebqeshj\u00ebs held meetings with women&nbsp;assembly members and survivors\nof the war to hear women\u2019s concerns from rural areas. &nbsp;Villages such\nas&nbsp;Babaj&nbsp;of&nbsp;Boka,&nbsp;Ponoshec,\nKorenic,&nbsp;Rracaj,&nbsp;Dobrosh,&nbsp;Molliq&nbsp;and&nbsp;Hereq.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Assembly members, together with\nthe project coordinators, made a site visit to identify problems addressed at\nthe meeting.&nbsp;&nbsp;Through these activities, female assembly members can\nadvocate on these women\u2019s behalf in order to address their needs; in particular\ntheir health rights and the right to inheritance. This Initiative also\nintends&nbsp;to improve the level of implementation of the administrative\ninstruction on property registration on behalf of both spouses.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201dThere are obstacles that prevent women\u2019s voices from being heard at Assembly meetings in the Municipality house. Women are reluctant to challenge traditional attitudes and lack the defensive abilities to strengthen their voices\u201d, said Arbnore Shehu Bunjaku, Project Coordinator, regarding the main purpose of the project and how Medica Kosova together with Cradle of Smile Center (DB) had come to identify this problem.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/womensnetwork.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/12\/Medica-Kosova-3_29-korrik-1024x576.jpg\" alt=\"This image has an empty alt attribute; its file name is Medica-Kosova-3_29-korrik-1024x576.jpg\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>On July 29, Medica Kosova and Center Cradle of Smile organized the closing roundtable within the initiative \u201cMobilizing women assembly members to address the needs of women traumatized by war\u201d in Gjakova. Representatives of local institutions from Gjakova and civil society got together to discuss the situation of women who faced sexual violence during the war, as well as their treatment as the responsibility of state institutions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/womensnetwork.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/12\/Medica-Kosova-3_29-korrik-1024x576.jpg\" alt=\"This image has an empty alt attribute; its file name is Medica-Kosova-3_29-korrik-1024x576.jpg\"\/><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<p>The Executive Director of Medica\nKosova, Veprore Shehu, outlined the achievements of the project, emphasizing\nthe importance of identifying the needs of women survivors of sexual violence\nas well as addressing the consequences. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>The meeting also discussed the\nimportance of creating a Special Gender Budget Code at the Office for Gender\nEquality to create inclusion for the needs of both men and women. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Mimoza Shala, Chairwoman of the\nAssembly Women Group from the Municipality of Gjakova, indicated that women are\nreluctant to claim their rights due to the strong distrust of institutions and\nthe societal stigma.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>She showed how the system is\nflawed when identifying female survivors of sexual violence.&nbsp; However, women who have been identified can\nstart receiving help from the state. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In concluding the meeting, the\nparticipants agreed that it is necessary to strengthen more formal cooperation\nbetween NGOs and institutions in order to work on on solving the social,\neconomic, and health problems faced by these women. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>This initiative is supported by the Kosovo Women\u2019s Fund (KWF), funded by the Austrian Development Agency (ADA) and co-financed by UNWomen.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img fetchpriority=\"high\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"922\" height=\"720\" src=\"https:\/\/womensnetwork.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/12\/Slide2.jpg\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-3348502\" srcset=\"https:\/\/womensnetwork.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/12\/Slide2.jpg 922w, https:\/\/womensnetwork.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/12\/Slide2-300x234.jpg 300w, https:\/\/womensnetwork.org\/wp-content\/uploads\/2020\/12\/Slide2-768x600.jpg 768w\" sizes=\"(max-width: 922px) 100vw, 922px\" \/><\/figure>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Medica Kosova and Djepi i&nbsp;Buz\u00ebqeshj\u00ebs held meetings with women&nbsp;assembly members and survivors of the war to hear women\u2019s concerns from rural areas. &nbsp;Villages such as&nbsp;Babaj&nbsp;of&nbsp;Boka,&nbsp;Ponoshec, Korenic,&nbsp;Rracaj,&nbsp;Dobrosh,&nbsp;Molliq&nbsp;and&nbsp;Hereq.
