{"id":3348723,"date":"2021-01-14T13:38:45","date_gmt":"2021-01-14T13:38:45","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/womensnetwork.org\/?p=3348723"},"modified":"2021-01-14T13:50:03","modified_gmt":"2021-01-14T13:50:03","slug":"vita-jeta-offers-free-medical-check-in-the-rural-areas-of-municipality-of-prishtina","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/womensnetwork.org\/sr\/vita-jeta-offers-free-medical-check-in-the-rural-areas-of-municipality-of-prishtina\/","title":{"rendered":"Vita Jeta Offers Free Medical Check in The Rural Areas of Municipality of Prishtina"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<p>Retired\nwomen and men of Albanian, Bosnian and Turkish ethnicity from the Municipality\nof Prishtina, including villages; Barliev\u00eb, Busi, B\u00ebrnica and Shkabaj, benefited\nfree medical tests for diabetes.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>91\nparticipants, respectively 62 women and 29 men, receive the service provided by\nthe Association of Retired Women \u201cVita-Jeta\u201d, a member organization of the\nKosovo Women&#8217;s Network (KWN).<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Moreover,\nDr. Valbona Bajraktari, a specialist in diabetes pathology, in the framework of\ntheir initiative \u201cDiabetes in the Elderly\u201d, held information session with women\nover the age of 35 to inform them about the prevention, symptoms and\ndevelopment of diabetes. Participants got informed on good management of\ndiabetes. During medical examinations, there have been cases where participants\nhave been identified with this disease, not knowing beforehand.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u201cAccording\nto recent studies, diabetes is a risk factor for, and contributes to, the\nseverity and mortality of patients with COVID-19. Therefore, it is very\nimportant to prevent and properly treat diabetic patients affected by the\nCOVID-19 virus\u201d, said Bajraktari.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>In\nthree rural areas of Prishtina, Vita Jeta provided free health services by\nmeasuring participants&#8217; glycaemia and cholesterol, as well as informing them\nabout their health status. The importance of food, hygiene as well as chronic\nforms of this disease were also part of the joint discussions.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Participants\nexpressed gratitude that Vita Jeta provided them with free health services,\nespecially in times of pandemic.
