Now, as the budget enters the review and approval stage, KWN has called on Municipal Assembly members to examine whether these recommendations and the identified needs of women and girls have been reflected in their municipalities\u2019 proposed budgets.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">KWN has recommended that Municipal Assemblies pay particular attention to financing childcare services and early childhood education; school psychologists and personal assistants; Centres for Social Work and services for victims\/survivors of gender-based violence; reproductive health services; support for women in agriculture; public transport in rural areas; accessible and safe infrastructure; and the participation of women and girls in sports.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">KWN has also recommended that Municipal Assemblies request the Gender Responsive Budgeting Annex when reviewing the proposed budget and assess whether there is a clear link between identified inequalities, objectives, activities and budget allocations for 2027.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Before the final approval of the budget, Municipal Assembly members can play an important role by requesting clarification on budget allocations, proposing changes where necessary, and seeking to ensure that priorities raised by women and civil society organisations during public consultations are reflected in the budget.&nbsp;<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\">Through these recommendations, KWN seeks to contribute to ensuring that municipal public resources are used more effectively and in a gender-responsive manner, responding to the diverse needs of women and men, girls and boys.&nbsp;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>On 24 September, the Kosovo Women\u2019s Network (KWN) sent recommendations to the Chairpersons and members of Municipal Assemblies on integrating gender equality into the review and approval of the 2027 Annual Budget.\u00a0 Earlier in the budget preparation process, KWN had sent concrete recommendations for the 2027 Budget to mayors and municipal directorates.
