The Kosovo Women’s Network (KWN) continuously follows the public discourse of political parties during the current electoral campaign for the early parliamentary elections scheduled to be held on February 14, 2021.
During this period, all citizens’ attention is turned to the political scene and what the parties have to offer to improve the general welfare. At this point, citizens should be made aware of the specifics of each program; yet, instead we are witnessing a threatening and sexist language. This language is considered offensive to citizens and as such is unacceptable and should be condemned.
KWN calls for an election process in accordance with constitutional rules, in a democratic spirit, and for any disagreement to be resolved through institutional channels, and never through personal insults and threats.
As we are dealing both with a state of health emergency due to the COVID-19 pandemic and preparations for the elections in this period; therefore, this situation should be seen by the parties as an additional responsibility and obligation.
Through its work and activism, KWN strives for a better Kosovo where women and men are equal and have equal opportunities in social life. Therefore, fully compliant with its vision, KWN demands accountability for any action that affects the achievement of these vital goals for the well-being of all women in Kosovo, and thus society as a whole.
