Since 1999, the Center for the Protection of Women and Children – CPWC “Raba Voca” has been working in Mitrovica to protect and empower women and children, particularly those facing domestic and gender-based violence. From 2015 to 2025, it has supported more than 850 women, girls, and boys during some of the most difficult periods of their lives.
“These are very difficult cases,” said Director Fidane Hyseni. “I have put myself at great risk, going to another city with the women.” She used her personal car to reach cases where institutions were unable to fulfill their responsibilities.
“There have been times when we did not have the means to provide food, and the shelter staff brought bread from their own homes for the victims staying at the shelter. During a period when there was no funding from the state, like other shelters, they went to businesses to ask for support,” said Hyseni.
Led by Director Fidane Hyseni, the organization provides direct support to women and children, including shelter, counseling, and protection, with a focus on their physical and psychosocial well-being. With her expertise in trauma support, Ms. Hyseni has helped many women and children.
In addition to providing direct support, CPWC “Raba Voca” works against domestic violence, gender-based violence, and trafficking, advocating for the rights and safety of women and children. Through its work, the organization aims to ensure that women and children have access to protection and services, as well as opportunities to live with dignity and free from violence.
Advocating for more equal policies is also part of the work of CPWC “Raba Voca.” The organization has raised its voice on issues that directly affect the lives of women and families, including gender equality and shared parental leave. With endless energy, she has advocated for municipalities to allocate funds for shelters, based on their legal obligations.
Through these efforts, CPWC “Raba Voca” continues to connect concrete support for women and children with efforts for more sustainable changes in policies and society.
CPWC “Raba Voca” is a member of the Kosovo Women’s Network, contributing to a shared network of organizations working for women’s rights, gender equality, and a society free from violence.
