The Kosovo Women’s Network (KWN) seeks two full-time researchers to join our research team in conducting research involving the costing of services related to gender-based violence in Kosovo and the Western Balkans. The research aims to inform specific recommendations for respective government bodies’ budgets for actual costs related to providing services towards addressing gender-based violence, in accordance with the Istanbul Convention. This full-time position is foreseen to last seven months starting on 1 April 2025, with the possibility of extension for an additional four months to support completion of the regional report, based on performance.
Key responsibilities will include:
- Attending a workshop with the research team on 1-4 April (obligatory)
- Conducting qualitative and quantitative research to assess the costs of providing services for addressing gender-based violence and the existing state budget for such costs, as part of KWN’s and a regional research team
- Reviewing and contributing to finalizing the existing draft methodology based on national specificities, together with other research team members
- Reviewing and analysing existing literature and data
- Outlining the existing relevant legal framework
- Arranging and conducting interviews, taking notes, and analysing interview findings
- Write the first draft of the report, using the template provided
- Revising and finalizing the report based on feedback from the Lead Researcher and Project Coordinator
- Work with the designer to finalize the report and any infographic that will be created
Applicants must possess the following minimum qualifications, which should be highlighted in their CVs and motivation letters:
- Basic understanding of terminology and concepts relating to gender equality
- Strong analytical and critical thinking skills
- At least two year’s research experience, including experience leading interviews
- Mathematical and quantitative analysis skills
- Knowledge and understanding of state budgets
- Excellent English reading, speaking, and writing skills
Encouraged but not required skills that should be highlighted in CVs include:
- Any education in economics and/or gender studies
- Knowledge and experience with statistics
- Knowledge related to gender-responsive budgeting, particularly the Supplementary Framework for Assessing Gender Responsive Public Financial Management and/or the Sustainable Development Goals 5.c.1. indicator guidance
- Any experience with gender-based violence
- Serbian language communication skills
